Debrief from a busy week in New York

From Renat Heuberger, CEO

I just arrived back from an exciting Climate Week in New York. The days were full of events and I feel like, for the first time, we really stood in the center of things. A huge thanks to the NY team for making this such a success!

I am happy to talk more about the specifics at the townhall on September 28, but here is a brief overview of some of the things we accomplished:

We hosted a sold out Climate Leaders Forum, together with Zurich Insurance, and it was a roaring success. Many South Pole clients and prospects were in attendance and one of our staff overheard a guest say it was the best event all week.

I spoke at the Global Futures Summit on a panel with Goldman Sachs and Carbon Tracker Initiative, and led a workshop with fellow penguins Roman Bolli and Nick Aster to discuss building an economy that fits within planetary boundaries. Here is my slide deck from that event.

Salesforce hosted us at their Net Zero Cloud launch event where South Pole’s George Favaloro took the stage with Van Jones and Christiana Figueres. Another terrific night of networking ensued.

We held our first ever hybrid webinar with an in-person audience. Lukas Hoex led a discussion on Plastics Credits. The recording should be posted on our website very soon.

Our volunteer river cleanup attracted over 100 people and picked up nearly 300kg of trash.

Martin Stadelman led the conversation on Scaling Finance for Nature at the IUCN conference

Naomi Swickard, our Head of Public Affairs, was the speaker/moderator for one of the VCM roundtables hosted by ICROA and also met up with the Rockefeller Foundation to talk business.

And, of course, there were lots of happy penguins that had the chance to get together and celebrate our successes as a team!
