CROF Update, September 2019
The last couple of weeks have shown concrete interest in climate risk analysis from private equity clients, as well as some positive signs concerning green bond-related offering with existing clients (Hitachi, AIM) requesting quotes for follow-up mandates including climate risk analysis of green bond issuers, frameworks, and projects.
The list of on-going and finalised mandates, as well as open proposals, includes:
- SUSI Partners – Carbon impact assessment for investment funds: on-going, data collection started
- BAFU – Water neutral investment strategies: on-going, the second part of the project starting with a focus on water alignment
- Hitachi – Advisory on green project risk assessment: finalised
- Prorsum AG – Investment impact assessment: finalised
- Epoch Investment Management – Portfolio climate risk analysis: proposal being prepared by Friday, Sep 6th
- Brookfield Asset Management – Scenario analysis and GHG footprinting: first preliminary proposal open
- Coller Capital – Fund level climate risk scenario analysis: proposal open
- Kayne Anderson – Carbon impact assessment for an investment fund: proposal open
- OPTrust – Climate risk assessment: proposal open
- Allianz – Climate/Carbon metrics: proposal open
- Legal&General Investment Management: RfP on External Climatology Support (no details received yet)
Other opportunities in the making: SwissLife (NDA, risk material shared), Scotia Bank (RfP coming), Alecta (climate risk demo), Apollo Global Management (NDA to be signed).
Additionally to the above, the month of August meant improving the way risk analysis results are presented, reaching out to various scientific community and consultancy firm contacts to explore potential partnerships, as well as a lot of internal strategy discussions and planning for the coming months and longer-term targets for CROF. Some of this you will soon see reflected in CROF material, as well as product and business development efforts. If you’d be keen on hearing what is this all about, keep your eyes open for an invite to an internal learning session towards the end of September. This learning session will focus on CROF offering from a KAM/sales/BD point of view. The session will briefly introduce the offering, discuss strategic focus and specific client target groups as well as example client cases.
