Mandatory reading: why we are here, what we stand for and what we do – introducing our high-level narrative

Dear all,

Much has been said about South Pole, our history, our vision and mission in the past. In the fast-paced market environment we are in, things change constantly. We need to anticipate trends and stay ahead of the curve – to continue to set trends and to be able to explain what is happening to our prospects and clients.

With this in mind, a working group of senior South Pole staff has crafted a “high-level narrative” to explain to all of you why we are here, what we stand for and what we do. The “high-level narrative” guides the work of South Pole across topics and sectors. Doing so, it gives all South Pole employees a tool for:

  1. mentally connecting our daily work to the larger systems transformations that need to happen across sectors and geographies, and
  2. telling our story to key stakeholders and understanding how South Pole contributes to realising sustainability at the required speed and scale.
  3. presenting South Pole in a holistic way

The narrative feeds into our corporate communications (corporate presentation, website, etc.) and – where appropriate and helpful – also into internal processes (i.e. on-boarding of new employees). This document does however not reflect on a particular South Pole business strategy, nor internal structures, nor short term business priorities.

This document shall constitute mandatory reading for all South Pole employees. As markets change and our company evolves, the “high-level narrative” will also need to be adapted. It is a living document. Please revisit it from time to time. We will make an announcement when major changes are being made.

For any questions regarding the “high-level narrative”, please contact me.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Tom
